Built from lived experience. Focused on truth.
SL VERITAS, formerly Sierra Leone Investigation, is the evolved form of a service first established in 2017 after its founder experienced first-hand how damaging romance fraud, financial pressure, family reassurance, and unverified personal claims can become when serious decisions are made from a distance.
That experience exposed a gap many people in the diaspora understand: when relationships, family claims, property, money, marriage, children, or identity are involved, trust alone is not enough. Independent verification matters.
“Informal reassurance is not the same as independent verification.”
SL VERITAS exists because people should not have to make life-changing decisions based only on emotion, pressure, family introductions, social reputation, or what someone else says is safe.
The story behind SL VERITAS
The service began as Sierra Leone Investigation and later evolved into SL VERITAS: a more structured, technology-supported verification service built around discretion, evidence, and clarity.
Its origin is rooted in a real personal experience involving distance, trust, money, marriage, pregnancy-related claims, and serious inconsistencies that only became clear after deeper scrutiny.
The founder met a Sierra Leonean woman through diaspora and family-related connections. Because the introduction came through familiar circles, there was an initial sense of trust and reassurance.
The relationship developed into repeated requests for financial support, an unsuccessful visitor visa application, travel to Sierra Leone, and a marriage at the Freetown Registry. Despite private doubts, the founder relied heavily on reassurance from people around him, including people connected to his own family compound.
After the founder returned to the diaspora, pregnancy-related claims were made and the relationship dynamic changed. Further concerns arose around money, behaviour, timelines, and paternity-related uncertainty.
On closer review, serious inconsistencies emerged. The situation revealed how damaging it can be when a person relies on informal assurances rather than independent checks, documented facts, and a clear verification process.
What began as Sierra Leone Investigation has evolved into SL VERITAS: a stronger verification brand combining lived experience, vetted local support, AI-assisted screening, OSINT methods, and structured reporting.
Why independent verification matters
Many clients come to SL VERITAS because something feels wrong but they cannot prove it. Others come before they send money, marry, invest, travel, apply for documents, or involve family members.
Distance creates blind spots
When a matter is connected to Sierra Leone but the client is overseas, distance can make it difficult to confirm identity, location, conduct, family claims, or property facts independently.
Trusted circles can still be wrong
Family members, friends, community contacts, and local acquaintances may offer reassurance, but reassurance is not the same as an evidence-led check.
Pressure can distort judgment
Urgent requests for money, emotional claims, pregnancy-related concerns, immigration plans, property promises, or family pressure can make people act before facts are verified.
A different approach to investigation and verification
SL VERITAS is not built on gossip, guesswork, or blind trust. The service combines vetted field support with modern technology, AI-assisted screening, OSINT methods, and careful evidence review.
Vetted field support
Local enquiries and practical checks are handled carefully, discreetly, and with attention to safety, context, reliability, and cultural realities on the ground.
AI-assisted risk screening
Suspicious messages, screenshots, profile images, online claims, and repeated story patterns can be reviewed for risk indicators before a client commits to deeper investigation.
OSINT and evidence review
Open-source intelligence methods, document checks, image review, profile analysis, timeline comparison, and consistency checks help separate facts from claims.

Our principles
Every request is handled with care because the issues clients bring are often personal, sensitive, and high-risk.
Confidentiality
Sensitive information is handled discreetly. The purpose is to help the client understand the facts, not to expose people unnecessarily.
Evidence before opinion
We separate what is verified from what is suspected, unclear, inconsistent, or still unproven. That distinction matters.
Practical clarity
Clients need more than suspicion. They need a clear explanation of what was checked, what was found, and what steps may be sensible next.
What clients receive
The aim is to give clients a clear factual basis for decision-making, not vague reassurance.
Structured report
A clear written summary explaining what was checked, what was found, what remains unknown, and where risk indicators appear.
Evidence pack where available
Supporting material may include notes, screenshots, photos, location observations, source references, or other lawful evidence.
Next-step guidance
Practical guidance on what to do next, what to avoid, what to verify further, and when legal, immigration, police, or DNA-related advice may be needed.
If something does not feel right, verify before you decide.
